I grew up in Northern California with a fashionable mother who taught me how to love clothes and how to wear them. I started one of the earliest online fashion websites, Fashionlines.com in 1999, which resonated soon after with the public's thirst for online information and have since that time been interviewed for television, newspaper, magazine and radio.
I am co-author of the book Electric Fashion with Frederic Aranda, FRSP (Fellow of the Royal Society of Photographers), published by SKIRA in 2015. Electric Fashion is a diary of my personal fashion collection of three decades, documented by Frederic, which I have since given to the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Becoming interested in exploring modern concepts of elegance, Frederic and I went on a quest to discover a "new elegance" in California, that of diversity, generosity, determination, imagination and courage.
The result of this collaboration is our second book California Elegance: Portraits from the Final Frontier which Frederic and I co-authored (Mondadori 2021). I hope you will enjoy the photography and the stories as much as we enjoyed our five year journey producing this book.
I live in my home state as do my son, daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren.
California Elegance is an intimate look at the extraordinary figures and natural beauty of California, the world's pacesetter for the twentieth century in all its diversity. From San Francisco's most significant players to the hub of Silicon Valley and the creative buzz of Hollywood, California Elegance brings you the very best from the Golden State.
Electric Fashion is three decades of fashion brought together in one collection, worn as originally intended by the California collector Christine Suppes, and developed over five years by portrait photographer Frederic Aranda. It is also the story of how Christine blazed an indelible trail onto online fashion editorial while developing a unique collection in the heart of Silicon Valley.
